Annual KOALA / ANZCOP Practice Session: 2025 Winners Announced

On November 20, IPAS and the Science Network Committee (SNC) hosted the KOALA / ANZCOP practice session, offering students an invaluable opportunity to prepare for their presentations in a supportive and collaborative environment. Held in the lead-up to the conferences, this session allows students to refine their talks, gain constructive feedback, and build confidence before presenting on a national stage. The event also highlights the strength of our IPAS community, with researchers and peers coming together to share expertise, provide guidance, and vote for their favourite presentations.

Following on from the Practise Talks, IPAS Members were invited to an SNC BBQ to celebrate our students and talk all things Photonics over a sausage and soft drink.

Congratulations to our winners:

Judge’s Choice Award – Chosen by the panel
Gabriel Britto Monteiro
Title: Speckle spectroscopy of rubidium with radio-frequency scale resolution

People’s Choice Award – Chosen by the audience
Ané Kritzinger
Title: ÌýA non-invasive Raman-based strategy for methanol quantification in bottled spirits.

Thank you to the organisers, all students who presented and to everyone who came along to support, making the event a success!
