  • Biography/ Background

    Richard is the Dean and Head of the Adelaide Dental School.  He is also Professor of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology.

    Undergraduate Teaching
    Dental and Oral Histology and Embryology, Oral Pathology and Applied Oral Pathology and Oral Medicine

    Richard has taught in years 1 to 5 of the Bachelor of Dental Surgery program and contributes to pathology teaching in the Bachelor of Oral Health program

     

  • Research Interests

    Side effects of oncology treatment, particularly chemotherapy-induced alimentary tract mucositis, focussing on oral mucositis and the role of pro-inflammatory cytokines on mucositis pathobiology.

    Oral health needs of lower socioeconomic groups including homeless populations and impact on overall quality of life and links with systemic disease.
