Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among women in Australia, with more than 21,000 new cases each year.聽 Around 70 per cent of these cancers are oestrogen receptor鈥損ositive (ER+), a type that often responds well to hormone-based treatments.

SAiGENCI researcher awarded funding for breast cancer research
Dr Joanna Achinger-Kawecka has been awarded a National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) 2025 Research Project Grant, providing essential support for investigator-initiated research projects which are critical to building Australia's聽breast cancer research pipeline and addressing critical research questions.
