PsiQuantum Visits IPAS to meet SA Quantum Photonics Community
On 7–8 October, IPAS welcomed Dylan Saunders and Milena Arsenijevic from PsiQuantum Australia to the University of Adelaide. PsiQuantum is working on a bold mission: building large-scale, useful quantum computers.
During their visit, Dylan and Milena engaged with both academic and industry audiences, including targeted meetings with local photonics companies, research teams and the ARC Training Centre Qu-Tech.
IPAS hosted two events to connect PsiQuantum with the South Australian photonics community. The first, organised in partnership with Photonics Industries Australia and Quantum Australia, was a networking reception on 7 October. Dylan Saunders, Principal Scientist Asia Pacific at PsiQuantum, shared the company’s photonic approach to quantum computing, supported by a $940 million AUD partnership with the Australian and Queensland governments. He highlighted opportunities for local photonics researchers and industry to contribute, including advanced photonics and optical technologies, industry co-development, research and training pathways, and support for early-career talent.
IPAS also held a session for its members to meet Dylan and Milena in a more informal setting, and facilitated targeted visits with research teams such as Qu-Tech, strengthening connections between South Australian photonics research and PsiQuantum’s international efforts.
The visit showcased South Australia’s growing capabilities in photonics and quantum research and reinforced the value of collaboration across academia and industry in shaping the future of quantum technologies.
